Wellness Wednesday: Goodbye January, Hello February

Life got in the way of me posting last week's Wellness Wednesday, but it's a new dawn new day. I'm excited it's a new month because I'm eager to get moving on my goals. First let's recap January.

I started the year like so many of you. Trying to figure out the whole goals vs resolutions thing. Thanks to being a Sweat Pink Ambassador, I was empowered to rejoin Weight Watchers. again. My husband's work schedule changed completely, and that meant working out a new routine for the entire family. I finally managed to have some me time. In attempt to focus more on my own health and fitness goals, I got caught up on my physical exams. The doctors found a pretty large tumor, and I had surgery on January 17th.

During my time on bedrest, I reevaluated my running goals, and took a stand on judgemental people. As you can see it was a pretty busy month. One thing I am bummed about is I didn't hit my target weight loss goal.

Which brings me to today. I'm back with eating healthier options and tracking intake with Weight Watchers. My goals for the months is to get out of the 170's (only 2lbs away) and return to running (once cleared from the docs of course).

What goals are you working towards in February?

Goals vs Resolutions

I'm a firm believer that there are two types of people in today's world. Those with the glass have empty, and those with the glass hall full. One can also say the same thing with goals and resolutions. I'm sure we all know plenty of folks that this applies too.

Take yesterday we somehow got on the subject of New Year's at lunch. One colleague went off on a tangent about all these resolutions she was making for 2017. Then there's me giving her serious side eye (don't judge me I'm working on that), like seriously!?! Yeah I get it...to each their own, but personally I don't believe the tired and true New Year New Me. A lot of it has to do with the five years I spent working in the fitness industry. Like clockwork, the fitness center would be empty from mid  November until that first week of the new year. We ran specials, the place was packed, and by the end of February it was back to the "regulars".Usually those who didn't make any resolutions. They did however have a handful of goals there were striving towards. That's me. I'll be the first to admit my life isn't perfect. There are quite a few things I  want to accomplish in 2017, but changes....negative. I'll stick to plugging away at the things that I can make an honest approach at improving my overall well being. That isn't to say I don't write things down. I just don't feel the need to make this laundry list of items I resolve to change, and within a few short weeks I'm back at square one.

This right here sums up my 2017 (and probably every year there after)

Do you typically set goals or resolutions for the New Year? Either way I would love to hear more on your approach going into 2017. Feel free to drop me a line or two.

Bumpy Start

Holy cow, I can't believe we're less than a week away into the second month of 2016. I would love to say that time flies by when you're having fun, but that's hardly the case. Life lately has been no walk in the park, but despite everything that the new year has thrown my way, I'm still determined to come out on top.

Although, I haven't made much progress with my health & fitness goals, I've kept my word on a few others. Next week I'm starting a new job, and I've found an excellent church that the entire family loves.

Despite some bumps in the roads, I'm confident 2016 will be my year.
